Intro to Poetry, Day 4: “journey”

I recently started a 10-day #introtopoetry course, courtesy of WordPress. (You can sign up too.) My fourth assignment is “journey” and the literary device is simile.

       Where are we going?

Home
      it wasn’t the place.

What was home?
     Where was home?

   Where is home
                            now?

The first time
up   up   up   upup   up      upup   up      in the air
Felt like free                                            dom

Felt like fear

I’ve been walking for many     years
Like a writer or a poet

     who doesn’t write

or

   rhyme

But tries to remember where she left her roots

and when she found her wings

This world

it didn’t want me like mothers don’t want crying babies

Now    I am still

wandering
    but I’m not lost.

the road is life
   the road is home

the destination

       irrelevant.

Read my first, second and third attempt at writing poetry.
